Show Your Support

Voting: Reader. Voter. Ready. was created by the ALA to help people stay informed during elections. "As we approach another series of local, state, and national elections, every eligible American should be informed, registered, and ready to vote. Join ALA's campaign to get every community Reader, Voter, Ready! Use our action form to sign the pledge and commit to voting." - American Library Association.

Library Trustees: Write a letter to the editor to your local paper to show your support for the right to read! Ex. Kingston Community Library

Advocacy Materials for Outreach:

  • Library Bill of Rights and Freedom to Read brochure
Recommended for libraries to have available at the desk.
  • Library Bill of Rights poster
Recommended for libraries to post this next to the service desk.
  • RIGHT TO READ kit - Free from Penguin Random House
  • Create a poster featuring community members to show their support for the right to read. This can be your staff, trustees, or town officials - be creative. Similar to the READ poster campaign through ALA, NHLA IFC has created a "Live Free and Read" banner to add to a photo to show support for intellectual freedom. Find the banner and instructions on the READS REPOSITORY. See examples by the Peterborough Town Library: PTL staff and PTL Trustees
