 conference theme this year is “Get Connected” – inspiring us to connect to teens, to our communities, to each other as well as other library staff, and to ourselves. Registration for the conference can be found here : New Hampshire Library Association - YALS Annual Conference: Get Connected! The conference will host several speakers on topics relating to our theme "Get Connected", networking opportunities, and a keynote presentation by YA author Sara Farizan followed by a book signing!

Sara Farizan (she/her) watches '90s cartoons and '80s commercials to relax, and loves pinball but is wary of certain games.

She is the award-winning and critically acclaimed author of the young adult novels Here to StayTell Me Again How a Crush Should Feel, and the Lambda Literary award winning If You Could Be Mine, which was named one of TIME magazine's 100 Best YA Books of All Time.

Her upcoming novel Dead Flip is her favorite book she's written. She has short stories in the anthologies Fresk InkAll OutThe Radical ElementHungry HeartsCome On In, and Fools in Love. She also had a dream come true in writing the DC Comics middle-grade graphic novel, My Buddy, Killer Croc. 

She lives in Massachusetts and thanks you for reading her work.

YALS Fall Conference 2023
September 28, 2023 - Susan N. McLane Audubon Center, Concord, NH (Virtual attendance option.)

  • The theme of the conference is "Teens in Transition". YA author Aiden Thomas will join us (in-person!) as Keynote Speaker to share their journey as an author, including the process of getting published, followed by a Q&A session and book signing.

NHLA's Spring Conference 2023

YALSA 2022 Young Adult Services Symposium
November 4-6, 2022 - Baltimore, MD

  • The 2022 Symposium theme is Rediscovering our Charm: Supporting Teens and Each other in our Libraries. Celebrate the wonderful community of librarians at an event that captures the collaboration, excitement and innovation of what we do best! We will explore new ways to uplift and support both ourselves and our teens through services and stories. 

NELA/NHLA Joint Fall Conference
October 23-25, 2022 - Doubletree by Hilton, Manchester, NH 

  • Join us for a great lineup of keynote speakers, informational presentations, table talk discussions, vendors, and lots of networking. This year we are having a prom to keep with the theme, "Back Together Again." It is free and open to attendees and their guests. It will be Sunday night following the banquet.

  • The theme of the conference is "Teen Mental Health Matters" and features panel discussions on gaming, podcasting, mental health first-aid training and programs, and more. New York Times bestselling author, Kalynn Bayron is the Keynote Speaker.

YALS Fall Conference 2019

  • The theme of the conference is “Teen Lit Love” and features programs on literature, reader’s advisory, and teen-driven programming.  M.T. Anderson is the featured speaker.

NELA Annual Conference
October 20-22, 2019 – Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa, Groton, CT

  • The theme of the conference is “Challenging Expectations Together.”

YALSA’s Young Adult Services Symposium
November 1-3, 2019 – Memphis, TN

  • The Young Adult Services Symposium is open to everyone, not just YALSA members. Programs will cover the entire spectrum of topics related to providing services for and with young adults. Session content is focused around key issues in YALSA’s recent report.
