Deadline for NHLA Loans and Scholarships for Graduate Study is September 1

The next application deadline for NHLA Loans and Scholarships for Graduate Study is September 1, 2013.
-F. Mabel Winchell Loan Fund—$1,500 interest-free loan to be repaid within 5 years
-Rosalie Norris Scholarship—$1,000 outright grant

Qualifications: applicant must be a resident of New Hampshire or currently employed by a NH library, enrolled in an ALA accredited school of Library or Information Science, and a member of NHLA.

Library Snapshot Day

Library Snapshot Day is Tuesday, April 12. 2011.  We are calling on ALL types of libraries to participate, large, small, school, academic, special, public – EVERYONE is urged to participate.

All the information you need is on the NH Library Snapshot Day Wiki. The wiki has easy instructions for uploading your photos to flickr and a printable form with the statistics we will be collecting. If your library will closed on April 12, you can pick ANOTHER DAY during the week to participate.  Please complete the online form by Wednesday, April 27.

The more libraries we have participating, the more impressive our final statistics will be, so please spread the word and ask your colleagues to participate!

New Round of Loans and Scholarships for Graduate Study for 2008

Reminder!  2008 brings a new round of a loans and scholarships available to fund graduate study in library science.

Qualified applicants are residents of New Hampshire, enrolled in an ALA accredited school of Library or Information Science, and members of NHLA.

The F. Mabel Winchell Loan Fund is a $1,000 interest-free loan to be repaid within 5 years.  The Rosalie Norris Scholarship is a $1,000 grant.

The next application deadline is April 1, 2008.

Still room in Everything You Want To Know About Library 2.0 workshop

There is still room in NHLA Continuing Education workshop, “Everything You Want To Know About Library 2.0,” for those who are still interested in signing up.  The registration deadline is this Friday, September 14.  You should receive an email confirmation on that date that we received your registration.  Please email sleonardi@amherst.lib.nh.us with any questions.

Deadline Extended for READS Award of Excellence Nominations

The deadline to submit nominations for the READS Award of Excellence has been extended to Friday, August 31st.

Several busy librarians have requested extensions, so we’re pushing the deadline back to the end of the month.

The READS Award of Excellence is given once a year and recognizes outstanding service to library users.  The award recipient will be recognized at the READS Annual Fall Program.  For more information and to download the nomination form, please visit http://www.nhlibrarians.org/reads/award.html
