Embracing Our Electronic World: Challenges and Promises for Academic Libraries

From the ACRL Insider blog..."ACRL invites proposal submissions for the ACRL 2011 National Conference to be held in Philadelphia, March 30 – April 2, 2011.  The full text of the Call for Participation is online.

The ACRL 2011 National Conference theme, “A Declaration of Interdependence,” reflects the idea that in order to be successful, libraries must cooperate with each other and interconnect with their campus communities.  ACRL invites individuals to submit their most innovative or radical proposals to help make ACRL 2011 a truly revolutionary conference."

You may not know it, but some NHLA sections have created Google Groups for communicating within their section. Here are links to the Google Groups for the Information Technology Section and the Academics Section.

• NHLA-ITS Google Group. If you'd like to join the Google Group, just send me an email (skbutzel at lib.cityofportsmouth.com) and I will send you an invite. Their is no membership fee to join.
  
• NHLA Academic Section Google Group

CHILIS has its own listserv, which you can access via their website, or here: http://maillist2.nh.gov/mailman/listinfo/chilis-l . CHILIS also has an online newsletter named Red Hot CHILIS News which you can also access via an RSS feed. Very cool.

Speaking of communication, another way to communicate with NHLA members is by leaving comments on blog entries. Recently, there was a technical glitch with our blogging software, and submitted comments weren't getting regularly reviewed and posted, but that's been fixed, and comments should be reviewed fairly quickly now. (In fact, if you submitted a comment in the last few months, it's been published earlier today.)

Hi Folks,

Steve Butzel gave us a wonderful clear and concise tutorial on posting an entry to the NHLA blog yesterday at the Executive Board meeting in Concord. Here’s my contribution:

As By-Laws Chair, one of my responsibilities is to ensure that each section has submitted a copy of its By-laws to the Executive Board each year – NHLA BY-LAWS, Article 6 -  Sections, Paragraph C -  Duties of the Sections. #2  “Present a current copy of the Section By-laws to the Executive Board each year.”

I’m attempting to earn my keep. Please send a current copy of your By-laws to me at credden@hampton.lib.nh.us. And Thank You,  Ann Hoey, for sending CHILIS By-laws first thing this morning!
