The 2008 NHLA Annual Business Meeting is not far away, and not surprisingly, I’ve been getting a number of questions about when it is going to take place. The answer is, Thursday, November 6, 2008. Where will it take place? At the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua, just off Exit 8 on the Everett Turnpike.
According to my tentative schedule, registration and a continental breakfast will begin at 9:00am and run through 9:30am. The first session will began at 9:30am and the final session will probably finish sometime around 3:30pm. Lunch will be provided in the middle of the day, to be followed by our business meeting.
I’m not yet giving out any specific information about the three sessions I have planned for you, but suffice it to say that there will be a good variety of topics and a terrific collection of speakers and panelists. The one hint I will give out is that the theme of the day will have something to do with 21st century information literacy, both for patrons/customers/students and librarians.
As soon as I have my final speaker officially confirmed, I will share the complete agenda for the day with all of you, but if you’d like to receive advanced notice of the official agenda by text message, send me your address, and I’ll put you on my list. Just like the Obama campaign! (I am not endorsing Obama for President. Just stealing his marketing scheme!)
Finally, I know that Nashua will be a long drive for many of you. I sincerely hope that will not deter you from coming to the meeting. In fact, I’m working on confirming a vendor/sponsor and then devising a way to use this money to provide some sort of travel discount for those of you who will be coming from far away. No promises yet, but I am trying!
I hope you are all enjoying the last stages of summer and embracing the return of students to your libraries.
