More conference presentation materials are now available at http://www.nhlibrarians.org/presentations.html. Darrell Eifert has made available several documents from his "Looking Good on a Budget" presentation, including PowerPoint and Open Office presentation files as well as Word and PDF files. I wasn't able to attend his session, but I am so glad that he has made his materials available due to my interest in library marketing and open source software. Kathy Tracy has also made available handouts from her two programs. So take a look! And if you have documents you would like me to add to the NHLA web page, send me a note at sbutzel at cwmars dot org. Thanks!
I encourage all speakers/presenters from this week's conference to send me their PowerPoint presentations or any other documents that they are willing to make available on the NHLA website. I will create links to these documents on this page, http://www.nhlibrarians.org/presentations.html. Send documents to sbutzel at yahoo dot com. Thanks!
Thanks to all the libraries, co-ops and groups within NHLA that contributed to the raffle baskets for this year's spring conference. We raised over $600 over the course of the two days of the conference. Thanks also to all the librarians who bought raffle tickets - we couldn't have done it without you too!
I have created a new page on our website where anyone can download presentation materials from the conference. The web address is http://www.nhlibrarians.org/presentations.html. (You can also get to the page from the Spring Conference webpage.) Right now the only materials posted are from my two sessions, but I will add others as I receive them.
As promised, here is a link to the PowerPoint presentation given at the Interlibrary Loan Software session earlier today. I'll also be posting it, along with materials from other presenters, on the main Spring Conference web page over the course of the next week or so.
Andrea Thorpe asked me to announce one clarification to the conference program. The Wednesday morning program "How to Start a Parent/Young Adult Book Discussion Group & How to Keep it Going" was organized by Lisa Houde and was run by Sharon Taylor and Mary Coombs. Now you know!
Here is a copy of the Spring 2008 Conference evaluation form. Please download a copy and mail the completed form to: NHLA, attention Judy Haskell, NH Local Government Center, PO Box 617, Concord, NH 03302-0617.
We hope you enjoy the conference!
It is that time of year to again call for nominations for the Ann Geisel Award. Please read the award's description and purpose, as well as the award criteria, the nomination process, the selection process and a list of winners on the Geisel Award web page. This information has been edited slightly from last year, so even if you think you are familiar with the award, take a minute to read through this page again.
This year's winner will be announced at the NHLA Annual Business Meeting on November 6, 2008. The Annual Business Meeting will take place at the Nashua Crowne Plaza Hotel. More information about the meeting will be posted on the blog soon.
The new NHLA Information Technology Section is going to be holding its first Content Management System Working Group meeting on Tuesday, June 24th from 10am-12noon at the Hooksett Public. The plan for the meeting is to begin building a website for an actual library using Drupal. (I will have Drupal pre-installed on the NHLA web server, so we won't have to waste any time installing software.) Ideally, we will all have a hands-on opportunity to build part of the site.
You don't have to be a Drupal expert to participate. I have only dabbled with it myself, but Bobbi Slossar will be there to share with us all that she knows. All that is necessary is that you have some knowledge of web design and that you are interested in learning about content management systems. If you happen to have taken Bobbi's CMS class at the State Library, that would be a plus.
Please let me know if you plan on attending.
